Turtle Research in Archaeology, Conservation, and Ecology (TRACE) is the University of Miami’s sea turtle research lab, designed to inform effective turtle conservation strategies through novel research, education, and public outreach. TRACE was founded in 2025 by Dr. Bethan Linscott, whose unique background in archaeology and marine science allows TRACE to draw on biogeochemical techniques from both disciplines to investigate sea turtle movements, habitat use, and foraging ecology, with the aim of informing effective conservation strategies. Keeping with the Robert K. Johnson Center’s ethos, TRACE fosters unconventional collaborations across fields to develop innovative approaches to management that address both ecological and human dimensions.
